Lead Safe Renovator Training

This 1 day course is designed for repair and handy persons, remodeling, renovation and painting contractors, tradesmen, and landlords who conduct (or oversee) activities that disturb painted surfaces in homes, apartments, or child occupied facilities (day-cares, schools, etc.) built before 1978. This course satisfies the training requirement to obtain Wisconsin Department of Health Services and EPA Lead-Safe Renovator Certification that is required when working in or on these structures. This course also satisfies HUD requirements for persons conducting non-abatement LBP activity as part of a federally funded project. This course is designed to educate attendees how to conduct repair, renovation and remodeling activities in a lead-safe manner. Topics covered include background information on lead, health effects of exposure to lead, regulations, worksite preparation, conducting interim control and non-abatement activities, work site clean-up and disposal.

    This course meets the MSHA Part 46 8-hour annual refresher requirements for mine workers. The purpose of this training is to keep miners informed of conditions at the mine site that present potential health or safety hazards. You or your company must have a MSHA Part 46 training plan to attend this class. The training plan must be sent to the college or instructor/trainer at least 2 weeks prior to the class. The instructor/trainer must be listed on your company's training plan as a competent person prior to the class. Cost of class includes morning refreshments and lunch.
